Tonight, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will hold a public hearing to gather input on the proposed Silver Spring Transit Center.
The three-level facility is designed to provide passengers connections between WMATA and Maryland Rail Commuter (MARC) trains, and local and intercity buses.
The lower level will feature a direct connection to Metrorail, 17 bus bays, a transit store, transit police office and ancillary WMATA facilities, such as an electrical room and equipment storage area.
The second level will include MARC and intercity bus ticketing facilities, waiting areas, rest rooms, a direct connection to MARC platforms, 15 bus bays and ancillary facilities.
The upper level will feature a kiss & ride parking area, and possibly a customer and service entrance for a proposed hotel, pedestrian entrance to a proposed residential building, and entrance to proposed underground parking garage.
