Purchasing power: ASLRRA ponders possibility of adding fuel-buying program to Web-based 'storefront'

American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) is conducting research and polling members to determine whether the association should add a bulk fuel-purchasing program to its online "Storefront," according to ASLRRA's bi-weekly newsletter released July 15.
In the past, consultant ReLPRO L.LC has helped the association leverage members' aggregated buying power by negotiating supplier contracts with lower prices and added benefits on such items as office supplies, safety equipment, information technology solutions and promotional materials, as well as credit and collection services. Members can purchase those materials or obtain services at ASLRRA's Web-based storefront, accessible at www.aslrra.org.
After receiving feedback from some members requesting a similar program for purchasing fuel, ASLRRA officials now are seeking input from all members.
