Last month, Kansas City Southern received the Railway Industry Clearance Association’s (RICA) most improved carrier award at the association’s annual meeting in Henderson, Nev. CSX Corp. won the "Carrier of the Year" award.

The awards are based on the results of RICA’s Class I over-dimensional service survey of rail shippers, which covers clearances, communication, load measurements, transit times and destination placements.

This most-improved award is a credit to the efforts of multiple departments at Kansas City Southern Railway Co. and Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. involved in the dimensional load process, including customer service, sales and marketing, transportation, infrastructure and mechanical, KCS officials said in an item posted on the “KCS News” web page.

Founded in 1969, RICA serves the interests of the heavy and dimensional load transportation industry. The association’s more than 500 members include Class Is, shippers, regionals, short lines, riggers, port authorities, freight expediters, heavy haul truckers and ocean carriers.
