advertisement
An ethanol plant is open for business in Ohio, meaning a short-line holding company has a new customer to serve. Yesterday, The Andersons Inc. and Marathon Oil Corp. announced their jointly developed ethanol plant in Greenville has launched production.
Under a 50/50 joint venture named The Andersons Marathon Ethanol L.L.C., the companies began building the facility in November 2006.
The plant will be served by R.J. Corman Railroad Co.'s Western Ohio Line, which operates a branch between Greenville and a CSX Transportation interchange in Ansonia, Ohio. The holding company built a lead track to the ethanol plant, which will produce about 110 million gallons of ethanol and 350,000 tons of distillers dried grains — an animal feed ingredient — annually.
