RMI recognizes railroads and shippers with 'Fast Track' awards

Today, RMI named 12 recipients of the 2007 Fast Track Awards. Winners will be honored in a 2007 Fast Track Award calendar.

The awards recognize railroads and shippers that have “continually demonstrated unique and creative ways of improving their businesses” by using the company’s products and services, according to RMI, which is handing out Fast Tracks for the second-straight year.

RMI will present awards to:
• Renewable Products Marketing Group for using ShipperConnnect and eBOL services to reduce transit times by two days;
• The Port Terminal Railroad Association for using yard blocking and car scheduling tools to increase the number of cars moving according to plan and reduce terminal dwell time by eight hours;
• the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway for using eBOL to receive more than 75 percent of its freight bills electronically;
• New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway for using eBOL to decrease transit times for cars loaded by customers;
• Chicago Rail Link for using a RailConnect® tool to reduce inbound waybill errors by 25 percent;
• CSX Transportation for using a car management tool to decrease car hire expenses and improve asset utilization;
• Central California Traction Co. for using a RailConnect tool to move cars more efficiently;
• Warrior & Gulf Navigation Co. for using RailConnect tools to improve service reporting and invoicing;
• Quebec Railway Corp. for using RailConnect tools to automate various processes;
• Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway for getting more than 99 percent of its customers to use ShipperConnect to release, order and trace cars;
• Indiana Rail Road Co. for providing customers ShipperConnect to increase crew efficiency, and reduce phone calls and faxes; and
• Farmrail for using RailConnnect tools and ShipperConnect services to increase operational efficiency and improve customer service.
