Rail America Inc.’s Indiana Southern Railroad (ISRR) recently extended and increased terms of two coal transportation contracts with Hoosier Energy Rural Electric Cooperative, valued at $17.8 million.
Under one agreement, ISRR will continue to move coal from Black Beauty’s Somerville complex to Merom, Ind., through Dec. 31, 2010. ISRR expects annual carloads to increase from 1,500 to 9,000 during that time.
ISRR also amended agreement terms with Hoosier Energy to transport coal from Horizon, Ind.’s Kindill 2 Mine to Merom through Dec. 31, 2006. This year, ISRR expects to move about 2,100 carloads this year, and 13,000 in 2004.
