Rail supply industry veteran Whalen Jr. dies

On Feb. 3, Robert Whalen Jr. died at his Lake Suzy, Fla., home. He was 58.

Whalen spent 30 years in the railroad supply industry, serving True Temper Railway Appliances/Progress Rail Services Corp. in various capacities before retiring in 1998. He also spent six years as a trust officer for Fulton Bank in Lancaster, Pa.

Whalen is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238; or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210.
