RailAmerica Inc. July 1 joined the Russell 3000® and Russell 2000® Indexes for one year, part of an annual index rebalancing process through global investment services firm Frank Russell Co.
Members of Frank Russell Co.'s 21 U.S. equity indexes — designed to provide investment managers benchmarks for passive and active investment strategies — are determined by market capitalization rankings and style attributes.
Russell 3000® is designed to capture the 3,000 largest U.S. stocks as of May 2001 and rank them by total market capitalization; the largest 1,000 ranked companies comprise Russell 1000®, the remaining 2,000 companies, Russell 2000®.
"As a result of our ability to implement and accomplish our strategic growth plan, the company's market capitalization has grown from less than $100 million three years ago to nearly $300 million," said Gary Marino, RailAmerica chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.
