On March 17, RailPower Technologies Corp. named Chairman Norm Gish interim president and chief executive officer to succeed Gerard Koldyk, who resigned.

From 1997 to 2001, Gish had served as chairman, president and CEO of Alliance Pipeline, a North American pipeline transporting natural gas from northern British Columbia and Alberta to Chicago.

"We are grateful for [Koldyk's] contribution and leadership over the past eight years, having brought RailPower from concept to commercial
reality," said Gish in a prepared statement, adding that RailPower plans to search for a new president and CEO that will lead the company toward full production of the Green Goat™ hybrid battery-powered locomotive.

RailPower also named former Canadian National Railway Co. Vice President, Engineering and Mechanical Dennis Waller a board member.

"[Waller] not only has Canadian railroad senior management experience but has also held senior positions with U.S. railroads, [and] will be assisting senior management on North American commercialization policy and action," said Gish.

After testing a Green Goat for nine months at its Roseville, Calif., yard, Union Pacific Railroad since January has been testing the locomotive's northern-climate reliability in Chicago. The test should be completed in June, closely followed by production of the first industrial Green Goat model, said RailPower principal founder and Chief Technology Officer Frank Donnelly.
