RailPower Technologies Corp. recently reached a partnership agreement with United Goninan Ltd. to help the locomotive builder market its hybrid switchers in Australia and Southeast Asia.
United Goninan designs, manufactures and maintains railway rolling stock at 14 facilities throughout Australia and Asia.
"United Goninan is a technology leader, establishing new designs and concepts for locomotives," said RailPower President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Maier in a prepared statement. "[The company] has extensive relationships and sales success … in Australia and Southeast Asia."
RailPower's Green Goat® and Green Kid® locomotives — which feature 130-horsepower diesel generators and long-life recyclable batteries, and are designed to reduce engine emissions and fuel usage — have sales potential in Australia and Asia, where there are thousands of yard switchers, says Richard Leupen, CEO of United Goninan parent United Group Ltd.
