RailPower Technologies Corp. recently learned the Texas Emissions
Reduction Program (TERP) approved the company's application for a "New Technology Research and Development" grant. RailPower plans to use the grant to produce one hybrid branch line locomotive for use in Texas.

Funded by the state of Texas through 2008, TERP grants more than $140 million annually to "clean air" projects designed to reduce emissions in the Lone Star State.

RailPower produces the 2,000-horsepower Green Goat® and 1,000-horsepower Green Kid® yard locomotives, which are designed to cut diesel fuel use about 50 percent, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions between 40 percent and 70 percent compared with conventional switchers.
