Propel, a leadership development summit for high-potential rail professionals, will be held Oct. 7 in Chicago.

Sponsored by RailTrends, Propel will offer attendees hands-on skill-building sessions, panel discussions, round tables and networking opportunities designed to enhance their work at rail-industry businesses.

The event will include a fireside chat with rail industry professionals, including James Carey, assistant vice president of external relations at Union Pacific Railroad, and Jacob Elium, VP of network planning and operations at Norfolk Southern Railway. Progressive Railroading Editor-in-Chief Pat Foran will moderate the discussion.

Both Carey and Elium are among Progressive Railroading Magazine's 2024 class of Rising Stars Award winners. The annual award recognizes rail professionals under the age of 40 who have achieved excellence early in their careers.

Matt Meuleners, executive partner and leadership trainer at FOCUS Training, will facilitate the day's programs. Meuleners has more than 24 years in leadership development.

"We see Propel as a surefire way for rail organizations to train and nurture their next generation of leaders,” said Wendy Dietzler, senior director of events at Trade Press Media Group, producer of Propel, said in a press release. “After an amazing day of training, Propel participants will return to their office ready to add value and innovate.”

Propel will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CT) at Convene, 311 W. Monroe St., Chicago. For more information and to register, click here.
