Railpower obtains EPA 'clean air' award

Railpower Technologies Corp. recently received a Clean Air Excellence Award in the Clean Air Technology category from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The annual awards recognize “outstanding and innovative efforts to achieve cleaner air,” according to Railpower. The company was selected from more than 75 nominees.

Railpower manufactures “environmentally friendly technology” for the transportation industry, including hybrid switcher locomotives designed to cut fuel use up to 60 percent and nitrogen oxide emissions, 80 percent.
