TRANSCAER recently honored 30 organizations — including five Class Is — and 78 individuals for their efforts last year in helping communities prepare for and respond to transportation incidents involving hazardous materials.
TRANSCAER presented its Chairman’s Award to Dave Buccolo of Central California Traction Co. and Brock Lowman of BNSF Railway Co.
Recipients of the National Achievement Award include BNSF, CN, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Corp., Specialized Response Solutions, The Chlorine Institute Inc., The Dow Chemical Co., and Union Pacific Railroad, which received the award for the third consecutive year.
In addition, UP recently became the first railroad to receive the Eastman Chemical Co. Supplier Excellence Award for overall company performance. The award is based on a supplier’s ability to meet the highest level of reliability and quality, UP officials said in a prepared statement.
