It took more than a year, but reconstruction work is almost complete on Rescar Cos.’ Orange, Texas, rail-car repair facility, which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Rita in September 2005.

Now, the company is ready to celebrate the 63-acre plant’s re-opening. On Oct. 19, Rescar will host a dedication ceremony for the rebuilt facility. Open to employees, executives, customers and the media, the event will include presentations, plant tours and workshops on car repairs, cleaning, painting and lining.

Redesigned to improve repair cycle times, the plant will serve as a model for modernizing Rescar’s other U.S. car repair shops, the company said. Rescar provides various car repair services to North American railroads, shippers and leasing companies.
