The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) recently awarded Parsons an engineering design and construction support services contract for Phase 2 of the agency’s "Smart Stations" project.

Parsons will integrate voice, data and video communications; and modernize station communications infrastructure at more than 30 stations by 2011.

SEPTA previously awarded a contract to Parsons for Smart Stations’ first phase, which included communication and security improvements to more than 20 stations.

Once the program is complete, all subway and elevated stations will be equipped with video surveillance cameras, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant electronic visual and public-saddress communications systems.
