SEPTA to tighten system security
advertisement
Yesterday, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) announced it’s implementing a series of new security measures.
The authority will increase SEPTA Transit Police Department patrols and conduct a board review to permanently increase the size of its 248-member police force. In addition, the agency plans to advance its “Smart Stations” project, which calls for adding surveillance cameras and emergency telephones, improving emergency lighting, and expanding alarm systems at the Market-Frankford, Broad Street Subway and Subway/Surface Line stations.
