STB adds public services office Internet link

Surface Transportation Board Oct. 16 added a link on its Web site, www.stb.dot.gov, to the board's Office of Congressional and Public Services (OCPS).
The Public Info/Media link provides information about OCPS, including STB's jurisdiction over the nation's surface transportation industry, the status of the board's pending cases, and procedures for initiating or participating in cases before STB.
OCPS also issues electronic news alerts, conducts archival searches, and assists congressional members and media representatives — some of whom aren't as familiar with STB.
During fiscal year 2001, the five OCPS staff members responded to more than 7,000 public inquiries covering a wide range of issues.
STB officials believe the new link will provide easier access to the office's services.
