Last week, the Surface Transportation Board's Section of Environmental Analysis (SEA) issued a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a proposed seven-mile line in Medina County, Texas.

Southwest Gulf Railroad Co. (SGR) plans to build the line, which would connect a Vulcan Construction Materials L.P. limestone quarry with a Union Pacific Railroad line near Dunlay, Texas.

SEA issued the Draft EIS as part of its environmental review of the project. The statement includes an analysis of potential environmental impacts and preliminary recommendations for mitigating effects.

SEA is accepting public comments on the Draft EIS until Jan. 10.
