At an open voting conference held yesterday, Surface Transportation Board members issued decisions on nine cases.
Among the decisions, members ruled the board will:
• not reconsider an October 2004 decision to end its five-year oversight of the Conrail integration, but address and clarify a portion of the decision that concerns the commonwealth of Pennsylvania;
• revoke an acquisition and operation exemption, and deny Northern Central Railroad's petition for a declaratory order to acquire and operate about 19 track miles in York County, Pa.;
• dismiss Boston and Maine Corp.'s and Springfield Terminal Railway Co.'s complaint concerning a July 2004 derailment of their train on track owned by defendant New England Central Railroad Inc.;
• order Indiana Southwestern Railway to restore switch connections with Ohio Valley Railroad Co.;
• deny Pioneer Industrial Railway Co.'s request to reject or revoke an exemption allowing the Central Illinois Railroad Co. to operate an 8.3-mile line in Peoria, Ill.;
• grant Sierra Pacific Industries' petition to abandon a 12-mile line in Amador County, Calif.; and
• grant Union Pacific Railroad's petition to allow a modified trackage-rights agreement to proceed and expire on or about May 16.
