The Surface Transportation Board issued seven decisions during an open voting conference on Sept. 15.
Among the six decisions involving rail lines, the board voted to:
• deny the United Transportation Union’s petition to revoke an exemption notice allowing East Brookfield & Spencer Railroad L.L.C. to lease track from CSX Transportation in East
Brookfield and Spencer, Mass.;
• reject San Pedro Railroad Operating Co. L.L.C.’s petition to abandon about 76 miles of track in Cochise County, Ariz.;
• grant Pittsburg & Shawmut Railroad L.L.C.’s petition to abandon about 40 miles of track in Armstrong and Jefferson counties, Penn.;
• deny Kershaw Sunnyside Ranches’ petition to reconsider and clarify an adverse abandonment decision regarding an 11.3-mile line in Yakima County, Wash.;
• approve Kansas & Oklahoma Railroad Inc.’s advance-notice waiver request regarding the short line’s plan to acquire a 27-mile line between Newton and McPherson, Kan., from Union Pacific Railroad; and
• grant UP’s petition to allow a local trackage rights agreement with BNSF Railway Co. to expire on Dec. 31.
