Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
On Saturday, Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) will launch service on the Gold Line light-rail extension to downtown Folsom, Calif.
The four-station, 7.4-mile line will complete the eastern segment of the 23-mile Amtrak/Folsom corridor, running from downtown Sacramento through Rancho Cordova to downtown Folsom.
Next September, SacRT will open the final segment of the $255 million Amtrak/Folsom corridor — a half-mile line that will run between St. Rose of Lima Park and the Sacramento Valley Station. Once the corridor is complete, the agency expects to carry 6,000 additional passengers daily.
