A bill passed in the House last week includes $120 million for several San Francisco Bay Area transportation projects.

The bill would provide $14 million to rehabilitate the 60-year-old Transbay Terminal, which would be redesigned to provide a centrally located facility for rail and bus service. The project includes extending Caltrain’s commuter-rail system 1.3 miles to the new terminal and creating access to the proposed statewide high-speed rail system.

The legislation also includes $5 million for the Illinois Street Intermodal Bridge, and Amador Street Connection and Improvements project in the Port of San Francisco. The bridge would provide a 0.7-mile freight rail and vehicle route across Islais Creek between the Port’s two largest cargo terminals, replacing the current 3.3-mile indirect route.

New Start funding also would be provided for San Francisco Municipal Railway’s Central Subway, a 1.7-mile light-rail extension along the Third Street Light Rail Corridor.
