San Mateo County Transit District’s marketing staff took top honors for its work for two transit agencies this week at the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) International Public Transportation Expo held in Dallas.
The district — which provides marketing services for transit agencies in San Mateo County, Calif. — took first place in APTA’s AdWheel awards for marketing campaigns it created for Caltrain and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART).
The group created Caltrain’s Weekend Edition, a quarterly brochure designed to attract leisure riders to the system after shutting down service for two years to complete construction work. The brochure lists weekend destinations and events served by Caltrain.
The group also developed a direct mail piece sent to more than 50,000 homes located along BART’s San Francisco International Airport extension. The mailer included a $15 BART ticket.
