Santa Clara VTA begins downtown San Jose rail replacement
advertisement
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) recently launched the Downtown Rail Rehabilitation Project, which includes replacing curved rail at three intersections in downtown San Jose to help reduce “wheel squeal.”
The downtown portion of VTA’s 42.2-mile light-rail line was constructed in the late 1980s and has “experienced significant wear,” according to the agency. The project also calls for cleaning or replacing granite pavers adjacent to the track.
