advertisement
Add the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to the list of transit agencies that posted ridership gains in November. Ridership on the agency's bus and light-rail systems totaled 3.7 million, up 6.6 percent compared with November 2007.
Light-rail ridership shot up 11.1 percent to 874,850. Average weekday light-rail ridership jumped 14.1 percent to 35,270 — the highest November average in VTA's history.
VTA attributes the ridership increases to the growing success of its Ecopass Program, which offers monthly passes to groups at a reduced rate.
