Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) recently restructured to support the agency’s efforts to improve finances and operations.
The reorganization included establishing two new divisions. The Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Division will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Bay Area Rapid Transit extension to the Silicon Valley. A new External Affairs Division will be responsible for supporting all board and committee functions, media relations, marketing and communications, customer service, community outreach, and local, state and federal government relations.
In addition, the agency reorganized its Fiscal Resources Division and expanded risk management functions within the division to include strategic risk analysis and management, insurance, workers’ compensation, public liability, and other claims-related functions.
And within the Operations Division, the agency consolidated operations planning, contracted services, scheduling, service planning and passenger facilities.
The new structure was developed based on recommendations by consulting firm Hay Group.
