Santa Clara VTA sets ridership record in October
advertisement
Last month, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) carried more than 1 million passengers on its light-rail system — a 16.1 percent increase vs. October 2007's total and a new monthly record.
Average weekday light-rail ridership jumped 17.9 percent year over year to 38,049.
System-wide, VTA carried 4.4 million passengers, a 12 percent increase. The agency attributes the gains to additional light-rail service provided for San Jose Sharks hockey games, as well as October bus service changes.
