Santa Clara VTA sets summer-month ridership record

Ridership on the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's (VTA) light-rail and bus systems typically dips during summer months. Not this year. Last month, the agency set a June average daily light-rail ridership record of 37,536.
System-wide, VTA posted average weekday ridership of 150,320, a 9 percent jump vs. June 2007's level. Ridership for the month totaled 3.8 million, up 7.6 percent compared with June 2007's total.
