Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Today, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will hold a public meeting on a recently completed engineering study for the 16.3-mile Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) extension to the Silicon Valley.
The study found that elevating BART tracks and a station in Milpitas will reduce the cost of the $4 billion project. During the meeting, VTA officials will review the study’s findings, including the project’s cost, benefits and potential impacts.
Scheduled to be complete in 2015, the project would extend BART service to Milpitas, San Jose and Santa Clara, Calif., and include seven stations.
