Progressive Railroading recently chose BNSF Railway Co.'s Jason Boyd and CSX Transportation's Wain Strickland as winners of scholarships to the 14th annual Wheel/Rail Interaction conference, which will be held May 6-7 at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare. Wheel/Rail Interaction '08 is organized by Advanced Rail Management Corp. and Interface Journal, and sponsored by Progressive Railroading.

The winners were chosen from among 111 applicants. A mechanical foreman, Boyd joined BNSF in 1996. Manager of test and lab services, Strickland has served in CSXT's testing and laboratory services department for 27 years.

Boyd and Strickland will receive passes to both the Wheel/Rail Interaction Seminar and "Principles of Wheel/Rail Interaction" course.

Wheel/Rail Interaction '08 is devoted to examining wheel/rail and vehicle/track interaction on rail-freight and shared-track passenger systems. The event aims to bring together track and mechanical users, researchers and suppliers to foster a better understanding of the complex interaction at the wheel/rail interface.
