Last week, the Senate confirmed Ashok Kaveeshwar as the first administrator of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA). On May 24, President Bush nominated Kaveeshwar to head the newly created agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT).
Most recently president of Orange Technologies Inc., Kaveeshwar has 35 years’ experience in high-tech research and development. He previously served as president and chief executive officer of Hughes STX Corp., and senior vice president of Raytheon Technical Services Co.
Created under the Norman Y. Mineta Research and Special Programs Improvement Act, RITA coordinates and manages the USDOT’s research projects, including the development of cross-modal technologies.
