During the week of Jan. 27, the Senate Finance Committee plans to conduct a hearing to consider the nomination of CSX Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Snow as treasury secretary. An exact date will be announced soon.

A Senate panel still is awaiting an official nomination letter from President Bush and Snow's answers to a committee questionaire.

CSX officials expect Snow to resign from the board or retire if he's confirmed.

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill resigned in December. Since Jan. 1, Deputy Treasury Secretary Kenneth Dam has been serving as acting secretary.
