Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) plans to form a training committee charged with finding ways to provide members more up-to-date and affordable training programs. Comprising representatives from railroads, rail industry suppliers and regulatory agencies, the committee will help ASLRRA President Richard Timmons develop and implement the programs.
"Our new relationship with the National Academy of Railway Services (NARS) in Overland Park, Kan., will be a central element in forming a model training strategy, and detailed annual training plans and products," ASLRRA officials said in the association's newsletter, adding that a NARS representative will be assigned to the committee.
ASLRRA is seeking individuals with classroom teaching, distance learning or tutoring experience to advise the committee on pertinent training courses.
