Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Siemens Transportation Systems Inc. recently took the wraps off its newly expanded Sacramento, Calif., passenger-car plant.
The car builder added 21,500 square feet to its 190,000-square-foot facility, which now features a car body finishing center with several blasting, painting and finishing systems, and a carshell welding facility. The expansion will enable Siemens to insource carshell manufacturing.
If car orders hold steady, Siemens expects to increase operations 36 percent during the next two years. The company plans to hire more than 150 employees by 2007’s end.
