Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Siemens Transportation Systems Inc. recently announced plans to expand its Sacramento, Calif., light-rail vehicle manufacturing plant to enable the company to build carshells in-house.
STS recently obtained additional orders for 33 and 34 SD160 cars from Calgary Transit and Denver’s Regional Transportation District, respectively. The car builder plans to manufacture the carshells at the expanded plant.
"We must stay focused on providing competitive pricing and high-quality products for our customers," said STS President and Chief Executive Officer Oliver Hauck at a recent company meeting. "We believe that building our presence in Sacramento … will help us achieve these goals."
