Siemens to supply 44 Railjets to Austrian railway

Siemens AG Austria recently received a $760.9 million order for 44 Railjet trains from Austrian Federal Railways — the largest order Siemens Austria has received in 10 years, according to a prepared statement. The trainsets, which will be powered by Siemens Taurus locomotives, will enter revenue service in 2010.

In 2006, Austrian Federal Railways ordered 23 Railjets, which are designed to reach speeds up to 143 mph.
