Silver takes reins as APTA board chair
advertisement
American Public Transportation Association (APTA) First Vice Chair Howard Silver recently assumed the chairmanship to succeed Ronald Barnes, who resigned Feb. 24.
The former deputy director of operations at Miami-Dade Transit, Barnes recently took a position with private-sector company MV Transportation Inc. Under APTA’s bylaws, the board chair must be a high-ranking official at a transit agency.
Long-time board member of the Golden Empire Transit District in Bakersfield, Calif., and APTA’s Transit Board Members Committee, Silver will serve the remainder of Barnes’ term as chair, which is set to expire in October. He then will be eligible for election to a full one-year term for the following year.
