advertisement
Indiana Northeastern Railroad Co. Inc. (INR) recently filed a notice of exemption with Surface Transportation Board to operate 24 track miles between Coldwater and Surgis, Mich., owned by Branch and St. Joseph counties through Rail Users Association Inc. (RUA).
Currently, 104-mile INR operates over a portion of the line, 59-mile Michigan Southern Railroad Co. Inc. operates over the entire line and both short lines jointly operate one segment.
The two short lines and RUA recently agreed to transfer Michigan
Southern's operating rights to INR, enabling the small road to become the line's sole operator.
