Sound Transit green lights airport extension

Sound Transit’s board recently approved plans to build a light-rail extension to Sea-Tac International Airport.

The project will extend the 14-mile Seattle-to-Tukwila, Wash., Central Link light-rail line — which currently is under construction — to the airport. The project includes building a station adjacent to the fourth level of the airport parking garage, where passengers will have access to an elevated walkway to International Boulevard and a pedestrian walkway to the airport’s ticket counters.

Scheduled to be complete in December 2009, the extension will open in time for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia.
