Sound Transit and contractor Obayashi Corp. recently took delivery of a 360-ton tunnel-boring machine from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
Obayashi will use machine to construct a nearly mile-long Beacon Hill tunnel between Seattle’s SODO area and the Rainier Valley as part of Sound Transit’s Central Link light-rail project.
The Central Link project is scheduled to be complete in mid-2009.
