Sound Transit recently launched service on its Tacoma Link light-rail line.

The 1.6-mile line is the first modern streetcar service in Washington State, and the first streetcar to run in Tacoma, Wash., since 1938.

The line runs between Tacoma Dome Station at Freighthouse Square and the Theater District. The station provides connections to ST Express regional bus service, Pierce Transit local bus service, Sound Transit commuter rail, Greyhound buses and Amtrak intercity passenger-rail service.

The system is expected to attract downtown development and new businesses, according to a prepared statement.
