Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Sound Transit recently unveiled an operations and maintenance facility that will serve as Link’s operational hub when the light-rail system opens in 2009.
Located in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood just south of downtown, the 160,000-square-foot facility will accommodate more than 100 light-rail vehicles. The facility also features a storage yard to hold Sound Transit’s initial fleet of 35 vehicles. The agency plans to expand the yard as the light-rail system grows.
Sound Transit’s initial 15.6-mile light-rail line will run between downtown Seattle and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
