Southwest Signal Engineering becomes 'Xorail'

Southwest Signal Engineering has changed its corporate name to Xorail Inc.

Pronounced as “zo-rail,” Xorail provides signal and communications services to the railroad and other industries. The corporate move requires no management or personnel changes, the company said.

In September 2008, Southwest Signal announced the creation of a separate subsidiary, Xorail Construction Services, which provides construction services to railroads.

Southwest Signal began operations in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1990. The company since has grown to 240 employees and established offices in 10 states.

The name change “reflects the fact that our company is no longer just a signal engineering company, nor is it just located in the Southwest,” said Xorail President and Chief Executive Officer Kash Krishnarao in a prepared statement. "Xorail is a nationwide company that has capabilities of providing ‘cradle-to-grave’ signal and communication services to railroads, commuter agencies and other industries.”
