In early April, Canadian Pacific Railway plans to move a 22,000-pound all-glass squash court 1,750 miles from Chicago to Edmonton, Alberta.


The court will be used at the 2003 Canadian Squash Championships scheduled for April 30-May 3.


CPR volunteered its services at the request of Kevin Olmstead, manager of taxation for the Class I's real estate group. A squash player for 21 years, Olmstead will compete in one of the men's tournaments.


The glass court will be loaded into a domestic intermodal container outfitted with special blocking at CPR's Bensenville yard outside Chicago.


The court then will travel by rail to Milwaukee, and across Wisconsin, western Minnesota, North Dakota and Saskatchewan to Calgary, and then to Edmonton.


Made by ASB Germany, the $150,000 court is owned by the Women's International Squash Players Association.
