St. Louis Metro proposes fare hikes
advertisement
St. Louis Metro recently completed a series of public hearings to gather comments on proposed fare increases. If approved by the board next week, the increases would be phased in during the next two years.
The fare hikes would offset increased operating costs. Metro also will freeze wages, cut jobs, eliminate some special event service and defer many capital projects.
The agency plans to increase the base fare for MetroLink light-rail service from $1.50 to $1.75 in fall, and to $2 in fall 2006.
