St. Louis Metro to raise fares next week
advertisement
On Aug. 22, St. Louis Metro will implement a new fare structure designed to balance the agency’s budget without cutting service. Later this year, Metro also will freeze salaries and raise the retirement age.
New fares will be phased in during the next two years. Metro will increase the base fare for MetroLink light-rail service from $1.50 to $1.75 next week, and to $2 in fall 2006.
Metro also will implement a new multi-use transfer pass, which will enable passengers to purchase one ticket to travel in any direction and transfer between rail and bus service for up to two hours.
