Tomorrow, St. Louis Metro officials plan to unveil the first of 22 new light-rail vehicles purchased for the eight-mile Cross County extension.

Scheduled to be complete in 2006, the extension will include nine stations at Skinker, University City-Big Bend, Forsyth, Clayton, Richmond Heights, Brentwood Interstate 64, Maplewood-Manchester, Sunnen and Shrewsbury-Landsdowne I-44. The project also includes two park-and-ride lots and a redesigned Forest Park Station.

Currently, the 38-mile MetroLink system operates between Shiloh, Ill., and Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
