Summit to highlight rail technology advancements

Progressive Railroading on Feb. 17 will host a virtual summit on advancements in rail technology.

Sessions will feature presentations from Brian Hancock, executive vice president and chief innovation officer for Kansas City Southern; Keith Dierkx, strategic adviser at Princeton Consultants; and Gary Fry, senior assistant VP of research and development for the Transportation Technology Center Inc.

The presenters will cover how KCS plans to be fully automated in the next decade; provide an overview of technology being adopted by railroads; examine technological lessons and ideas that railroads can learn from other industries; address how technology can be used to drive efficiencies; and review how to maintain the cadence of technological advancement.
