Nearly all congressional candidates believe public transit is an important part of a balanced transportation system and that current transportation needs are not being met, according to a recent survey conducted by the Center for Transportation Excellence.

Ninety percent of respondents indicated that states and municipalities should increase public transit investments.

Respondents identified the top public transit benefits as reduced traffic, decreased pollution, reduced energy consumption, economic development and mobility.

The surveys were distributed to candidates following each state’s primary.
